Hi Steve!
I used a few of these chips in my designs (MT8804,MT8816,...). They works
very fine - for digital and analog signals. But don't expect to get high end
audio quality. Controlling these chips is done very easily.
With this I made a CASIO SK-1 Midi-Interface (matrix IC in parallel with the
keyboard keys), audio switching matrix, midi matrix,...
