Reminds me of my youth, when I lived in a small town, and the
only source of electronic components were the radio / TV shop.
They charged the equivalent of 1 Dollar for a resistor, and
5 Dollars for a small signal transistor ...
But enough of horrible memories.
What you need is an electronics mail order company, like
Maplin (UK). It's no problem to buy stuff from other countries
in Europe. (US is a little more difficult, but things will improove
when they've done with customs on electronic components.)
Get a Maplin catalogue. It costs a few pounds, but it has very
comprehensive description of the components they sell.

For transistor arrays, look at CA3086 for cheap npn's
(they are very good for expo converters), or arrays from
Elantec (sp?) for pnp's.
Don't try to use an external heater to temperature stabilize
the transistors. Use two of the array's transistors.
Lots of information about this in the archives.
