tr707 + Drumstation=909??

Hey, just wanted to tell all those ppl out there who i told that a good combo
replacement for a 909 was a drumstation+707. Only problem is, the 707 wont
transmit in our favorite mode, pattern mode. BUT, it will transmit in song
mode. Wierd.
Funny thing though, my friend, who gave me the idea, has a 707 that WILL
transmit in pattern mode! So, i got a 707 for free and it wouldnt work on mine.
So, i got my buddy to let me open his, and it has some stuff jumpered with
solder and wire in places where mine does not! Anyone know of a mod for this
unit to make it transmit midi in pattern mode?? Or, perhaps someone has the
schemes for this otherwise useless piece o gear? (imo)
