Rob,
Spare no details I'm definitely interested. I've been mulling over Eric
Barbours tube synth and thinking the thing to do would be to get a Fatman
(or midi to CV) and tweak the code on the 8051 such that DAC output is
mapped to compensate for the non-linearities of the CV response of the tube
VCO. From the DAC on out would be all tube of course.
I recently picked up a copy of Analogue Computing at Ultra-High Speed by
MacKay and Fisher. Somehow, I suspect it is long out of print. This book has
shown me a piece of computing history of which I was barely aware. Most of
the basic circuits are fairly simple but ,of course, the intent of the
authors is to string these together to find solutions to complex
mathematical problems. Some of the plots generated are nothing short of
amazing. If you see it at a second hand book store for cheep you might want
to look at it.
