Thanks! & LED Failure Rate

Hello,

Thanks very much to all who responded to my LED question.

Before my original post, someone had told me that the failure rate (on
at least the bi-color LEDs) was very high, especially if they are
manufactured overseas, etc.

Now, I have nothing against anything made overseas, and I would guess
that most LEDs are made there. If there is a US or Canadian manufacturer
of bi or RGB color LEDs I'd sure like to know, but even then, their
factories I would guess are located overseas (?)

Does anyone have any comments on this failure rate issue?

There is an analogue style (?) MIDI sequencer you've probably seen or
heard about by now called the Latronic Notron. This device has a large
number of bi-color LEDs used in its design. I was told by a reliable
source that the manufacturers had to test these LEDs beforehand, and
were somehow able to light an entire big batch of them. Checking on the
batch 24 hours later revealed that a high number of them had failed.
