.......well I'm using AD633, and it's a lot easier than working with the
motorola MC1495, which I think is being dropped anyway.
AD633 is US$6.04 in Newark cat, but Newark definitely aren't the cheapest.......

and while we're on chips, Newark CA3280AE $7.30,     CA3280E $3.59

I really feel that the best thing for a diy VCA - except for the expense
angle - is the AD633.
