LM 13600 question

Well, it is safe, a 20k one would be even safer.. but, the problem is this:
it really wants to be fed from a current source, and at low currents it 
behaves pretty 'funny', and difficult to get the full range out.
Now when I drive one, I always use a current source.
It's a hassle, but worth it.
The one on tomg's MS filter clone works just fine.
