DIP packaged resistors???

They aren't a bad idea at all! The only bad thing about them tends to
be that the pins are all in a straight line and that isn't necessarily
the best of configurations in tight designs.
If you are fairly intelligent, you can easily make their
configurations work for you. I was using them in my most recent design
until I decided to go SMT.
