For my own modular synth, I've chosen the following colours for my banana
jacks.  (I don't use Collet knobs anymore, due to their cost here in the middle
of Canada.  About $3 Cdn. each!  :o )

- CV In - Blue
- CV Out - Purple
- Audio In - Yellow
- Audio Out - Orange
- Trigger/Gate - Grey
- Multiples - Brown

I haven't changed all of my colours yet, on my machine, but those are the
colour codes that I've thought of, so far.  It would be a nice idea to have
colour coded knobs as well.  Hmmmm.  I have to find something cheaper than
Collet.  :)
