What about a layout with a heated 3046 instead of the 726? Should 
still be
plenty of space on an Eurocard format. (Original Formant PCBs had a

insane large size, IMO.)

Me too.  I thirst for some good old analogue circuitry after all this 
talk about DSPs
and digital circuits ! (;->)
