RS232 in Titan

Seeing as this discussion about RS232 has come up and it seems like
there are some people here who know something about RS422 as well;
I have the following questions.

How difficult would it be to access my Emax's RS422 port using a Windoze
PC? What would be involved as far as interface requirements etc?

I have a friend who reckons he could write the appropriate software but
does not have any info regarding RS422.

Any ideas along these lines would be appreciated.
