OK I need to clear up a few points.......
1) Before I'm burned at the stake as a heritic, the Titan VCO is the ONLY DSP module
in the system (as I plan). This is because I want between 16 and 128 simultaneous
outputs, and a DSP can do this all day long with minimal of software. Also (for you
serious types) I want a Karpus - Strong algorithm engine to play with as well.
Now, this is an OPEN system. It will use a Analog Devices SHARC DSP. So, I will
publish all poop so anybody can write SW for it.
2) There are no patch cords (THERE'S THE HERITIC! BURN HIM NOW!!!). I hate them!
There is instead a RS-232 port and SW to all PATCHING. just not without cords. I am using
MAXIM video crosspoint switches (like an electronic ARP 2500). It would be easier in the
PCM domain using something called S-BUSS (used in PCM time-slot interchanges in telephone
central offices, MITEL invented it, it's an industry standard) but hey, where's the fun it that???
3) Yes, it has knobs. Just not pots! It uses Standard-Grigsby optical shaft encoders, PIC micros, and
XICOR EEPOTS. Dig it!!
4) All filters, VCA, EGs (well some EGs), mixer, noise source, etc ALL ANALOG!! Yeee Haaaaa!!!!
