particular chore would be to have a clean power source.  There are tricks 
to do this.  The best way is to grab a hold of the +-12V supply and slap 
some regulation circuitry and bring the voltage down as little as 
possible.  There are some good cheap 10V regulators that would do this 
job nicely.
   By reducing the power supply voltages, you eliminate the switching 
frequency spikes that are the downfall of any analog gear.  I had to do 
this with my company's latest product which runs off of the 5V line.
