Opinions on sh101 erratic behavior

It's got to be the power supply. When running on batteries, my SH-101
flashes its powerLED when the battery voltage is too low. If the
voltage is around the minimum required voltage, the thing will become
erratic, with all the symptoms you described. Any lower voltage and
it won't do a thing.
