EEPROM and EPROM

First of all, there is a BIG difference between EEPROM and EPROM. Here are
the main
differences:

	1. Size. EEPROMs usually are MUCH smaller than their EPROM counterparts.
Most EEPROMs range in the 1Kx8 to 16Kx8 size.
	2. Interface. Most EEPROMs have a serial (usually SPI or I^2C Compatible)
Interface.
I have not yet seen a parallel interface EEPROM.

I've used EEPROM in my projects to store patches & configuration data, as
opposed to using a low
voltage SRAM and a battery. As for storing huge chunks of data, EEPROMs
quickly become obsolete.

In case you're talking about Flash ROM, they are perfect for replacing
EPROMs. TI makes several
drop-in replacements for EPROMS, and I seriously would check them out.
