formant vco problems

At the moment i am currently making the formant modular synth, but a smaller
version and not a huge mod system.  I am having a few problems with the VCO,
the problem is this :-

As you know there is a dual transistor can called the ua726c which used in the 
couurent control part of the vco, i have tried replacing the ua726c with a new
type of dual transistor can called the BFY81 unfortuantly this has only got 6 
pins whereas the ua726c had 10.  The extra pins ar +15,-15, GND and one not used, does anyone know whether or not that these can be ignored or that they were
and important part of the ua726c running.

If anyone has got a internal wiring diagram of the ua726c, i would be very pleased to know how the bloody thing worked, i have tried to get this information 
from fairchild them selves but to no joy!!

So if anyone could help i would be very gratefull indeed
