What technique many companies use these days is called sigma-delta
conversion. It's a certain oversampling technique which doesn't require very
precise components. As a matter of fact in two weeks from now I've got the
study-assignment in which I'll have to design a s-d converter. Anyway, how
more oversampling the less aliasing at lower frequencies.
But don't forget the higher harmonics you'll get from the s&h part.
