What Chris says to do, if you can't clean the bar, is to rotate it a bit
and get a fresh surface for the j wires to contact.  This soultion works
pretty well, and you can do it a few times.

A good point to remember with all of these old boxes is to keep the tronics
clean.  So every so often go through each machine and give it a good
cleaning.  They work better and are more fun then too.  Well, ok I'll admit
that a messed up machine can sometimes come up with really fun sounds.  8.)
