This humming should be same as the audio feedback fenomenon found on older
basses and guitars (electric ones, bummer). The windings get loose with age.
I have myself dipped bassmikes in hot wax to eliminate the problem and it
worked great. Fun to :^)
I'm not shure wheter it's a great idea to dip transformers using 220V (or 117
for that matter) in wax but this principle of "gluing" the windings back to
one another should fix problems with hearable humming from transformers. Gene
suggested expoy and that might work.
