Mr. Romeo MS20 was in town visiting, so I took him to a few local
electronics surplus stores. One place had 2 big boxes full of IC tubes
(many of them full of chips) at US$2.50 a tube. I started digging, looking
for interesting stuff. Lots of oddball 74LS and 74HCT TTL chips. I didn't
see any 4000 series CMOS. Then I spied some 8 legged critters. TL071s.
Score! I dug up a tube of OP215s, NE5534s, and a tube of REF02s, a temp.
stable 5V reference (we thought this was a tube of OP07s, because there were
a few stuck in the tube). About 100 chips in all for $7.50. Oh, and I also
got a long Accutronics spring reverb tank for $6. I'm just hoping it has a
decent input/output impedance so I can use it in my 2600...
