The discussion seems to be specifically about computer SMPS's, which,
agreed, aren't really suitable for analogue systems, but that's not a real
criticism of SMPS's themselves. There's an excellent FAQ on fixing SMPS's
around on the net somewhere - if anyone's interested I could dig it out...
