The Sennheiser Vocoder aparently had a linear PSU that also switched 
automatically
to different mains voltages !  Some voltage sensing and reconfiguring
two primary windings of the power transformer ba relay contacts !
I've never seen how good this worked, just opened my mouth in surprise when
I saw it in the service docs.
