Germanium Diode Filters? (was: EMS Schematics)

One of my (admittedly few) homebuilt circuits was a little distortion
"pedal" made with two germanium diodes.  It really sounds pretty
nasty, but sometimes you just want that sort of sound!  Chainsaws and
such come from my synth.  Lovely.  Anyway, it's a really simple
circuit and it appears on my homepage if anyone wants to try it out:
