Get hold of the schematics for Digisound's VCES module (can't remember the 
number right now). It's a four stage (ADSR) generator, but each stage has 
voltage control of the rate. The envelope itself is exponential, and (very 
marvellously) you can adjust the exponential time constant either manually 
or by VC. Hurrah! 

The only problem is that it's based around the CEM3310 chip, which is not 
easy to find, although there are some if you look.
