The actual Digisound ring-modulator circuit diagram is in the AH archives 
somewhere I think. Its based on a balanced modulator IC (MC1496 ?) that you can 
get from Maplin for a couple of quid. 
I believe the Digisound module had two circuits, with just the 3 sockets for 
each, so you should be able to make a front panel that would fit in with the 
rest of your modular nicely. I have an old Digisound brochure I could check.
I'm sure this circuit will have better performance than a 3080 too.
I don't have web access at the moment so you'll need to look for it yourself, or 
if its disappeared I have a printout of it somewhere I could look out.
