Can't you do this with a binary counter? I mean, say you have a 4-bit counter,
and you strobe it. The results (over 8 cycles) will look like this:
0101010101010101 input/bit0
0011001100110011 bit1
0000111100001111 bit2
0000000011111111 bit3
That's even PW, right? I guess they're not in phase, but is that really important? :-)
Isn't there a counter IC that can do this easily? Or are there too many problems
with using such beasts to make them practical? If you negate the divided outputs,
you get them in phase with the input, or so it would seem.
