Well put, Joachim!
BTW: I remember how much time and energy I invested into my
Minimoog clone project, just to get this special sound. And yes,
it sounds similar to a mini, and yes, the moogfilter does sound
very different than other ones. BUT: There are so many other
interesting filter types, and so I included a SEM-filter, a MS-20
filter, a 2040 filter, a variable slope filter and an EMS filter
bank into my JH-3 Modular synth, but NO moog filter at all !
The Mini Clone only gets a bass line sequence job now and then,
and guess why? Because it's rack mounted and hasn't got
the outfit of a "Solo Synthesizer" anymore !
Hey, and if a synth doesn't produce any sound at all most of the
time, it doesn't sound like a Moog, too, most of the time (;->)

PS.: When I saw a diode ladder filter in some obscure DIY book
many years ago, I laughed and said "they don't even present a
real VCF here". Now it turns out, that these diode filters are the
most expensive, valuable and sought-after ones (TB-303, VCS3).
Funny world.
