There are some plans on Analog Heaven http://www.hyperreal.com/machines/

for adding pots for each filter band for tunning the freq., and i've 
heard that two have been combined but I've never heard the results.As 
far as the PAIA/Sennheiser Connection ,the Sennheiser has much more 
BALLS and has much much more clear speech.A better comparison would be 
the low end Roland Vocoders , wich are as intellagable , but lack that 
breathiness/human quality as the sennheiser.Of course this all comes 
down to your carrier signal .And also the ability to patch wich is sort 
of an added bonus ,but not very musical.
