Tempco 1K TC

I think someone brought this up a long time ago, but.....

What's the implication of using a 1K tempco in series with a regular 1K instead 
of a 2K tempco? I mean you'd only get 50% of the required temp-compensation, 
but it would be better than nothing - right? 

Actually, in the tri-square VCO expo-converter, could you just use a 1K 
resistor for the summer's feedback and drop the 390 ohms between the trimmer 
and ground to 200 ohms? Or would that be too unstable?
