BBD's and EPAC's

I was wondering if anyone has expeirimented with the panasonic 3328-Stage
Multi-Tap
BBD for audio delay signals (MN3011-ND), i saw it in Digi-key and it seems
quite useful and versitile, i was wondering if anyone has any expierience
with this chip, i was hesitant to automatically buy the chip and expieriment
due to the fact that it is 53 dollars (per chip). Also, has anyone used the
EPAC chip for patching or sequencing or anything like that? it is also in the
new digi-key, it is also pricey and requires external programming hardware
and software.  Any info would be appreciated, thanks,
