Stretching Time...

Hi,

Don't know if this is appropriate for the list but...

I've recently acquired the docs to enable me to patch into the operating system
of my sampler (Casio FZ). I'm looking into the idea of implementing a time
stretch function, and I'm looking for ideas on the best approach.

Initially I'd thought of selectively doubling up or cutting out 16bit words in
order to expand or contract the waveform ?

However I'm led to believe that some of the more recent equipment uses different
timestretch algorithms depending on what type of sample is being acted upon.

e.g. when stretching drum loops avoid altering the drum sound data and simply
pad/contract the spaces between the drums.

Any thoughts on this area would be appreciated

Cheers

Stuart.
