In line with the discussion of synth presets, etc., I just saw
an ad in EDN for a digital controller by Bourns that has a digital
8 bit binary output.  Quoted pricing less than $5 each quan. 100.
It retains the last position in event of a power loss.  Looks like
a pot with 10 leads coming out of it.
