Problems with MIDI-CV converter

This may not be the answer to your problem, but here's a couple of
suggestions.

First, does your microcontroller software microcontroller handle running
status, and zero velocity note-ons as note-offs.

Second, I had a similar type of problem with a CV convertor I built.
Eventually I found that the interrupt routine was too slow, and that the note
bytes were lost - the note on command was received, but by the time this was
buffered, the note value had been replaced in the uart's receive data
register by the velocity value - result = weird shit.
