Adding feedback to a VCF

How much feedback could you give a VCF??? Should you just put a pot in
between and test while twiddling this knob until your filter starts glowing
or until you can see some clipping on a scope????

I need this info, because I'm thinking of editing an LM13700 synthesizer: 1
VCO (triangle/square), 1 VCF (2*12dB/oct Butterworth), 1 VCA, 1 AD
generator.

So this could become a real cheap acid-o-maniax machine......

The only thing that isn't based around the 13700 is the ADSR!!!!
