I just received an order that I placed with All Electronics (advertises in
Electronics Now and has a Web site). One thing I ordered was a pair of
'Force Sensing Pads'. These are rather large (6x10" or so) very thin clear
pads that have an alternating resistive pad on both sides. Each side has
three connections (haven't figured them out yet) that has a high resistance
(about 4-500K) with no pressure on the pad. When pressure is applied (hard
finger touch!) it drops to around 10-14K. I'm not sure if the two sides
provide any resistive relationship which would allow for location detection
or not.
I'm going to try to use these to create some CV trigger pads as an
alternative controller, covering them with a thin mouse pad, and drive them
with drum sticks or finger thumps! For $4.50 US each, I figured they were
well worth some experimenting!
