Scott and all,
I have a copy of that article (July 1989) and can say that it does look
good! I'm going to try to build one myself, unless PAiA releases their
converter in the very near future (Head Honcho are you there?)! Provided one
has a ROM burner that can handle the Motorola 68705P3 MPU. Only other hard
to get part is the PC-900 Optocoupler. Both parts are in Jameco's catalog.
This converter provides Portamento, CV, Gate and Trigger for 4 voice
polyphony. It can be set to any MIDI channel (1-16). The article includes
the source code and is about 15 pages long! It appears that this is the
third article (by Thomas Henry) in a series covering uses for the 68705P3
chip. I don't know what all was covered in the earlier articles (April and
June 1989).
Further note, I've found an article in the January 1994 Electronics Now for
a 68705 programmer, but my copy (from local library) is not very good. I'm
going to see if I can buy a back issue of it as well as the earlier two
Electronic Musician issues mentioned above.
