... or you can look at the PLL as an FM demodulator. Varying the
PLL's center frequency and lock range, you should get some
resonant filtering. (BP filtering at the VCO output, LP with resonance
at the slope filter output.)
I am not sure either if you couldn't do it with an analogue filter.
Anyway, Don Buchla used a PLL (1st order, though) in his famous noise
generator. But I never have heard one of these.
