Maybe a bit less show-off, but very cool nonetheless is using an activator
for the sega genesis. These are very common in pawn shops and flea markets.
You can either interface to a PC and write software or hack it directly
but this way you will have only 1 trigger per panel (there are 8). You
could even put a few around you live for people to interact with your
music (imho a filter enveloppe amount knob is all they could really handle,
but hey, you never know). When i was running 3.1 i had a little
applet in combination with a virtual midi patchbay to send sysex to a
106 with the activator and with 2 joysticks i would send continuous
controllers to a six-trak, while cakewalk pro would sequence the rest.

I also played with the power gloves (those that were on AH long ago will
remember this) but the response was too imprecise. The logitech cyberman
was also an interesting input device. Still, up to now, the joysticks
have been the most usefull.
