     Hi DIY,

Somebody wrote me an email which I read and promptly deleted (duh) -
not sure if it was private or not but here's a response.....

The email quoted me as posting a while back saying that I planned to
make 4 or 8 ASM-1 voices for my own poly system, and the question was
"what do you plan to use as the poly CV keyboard controller?".

     Here's my plan so far:

Some day, when I get my work bench set up again, I want to build a
four-voice ASM-1 modular thing with banana patching. To control it I
plan to use my MPU-101, and utilize the velocity per voice as well as
the global pitch bend, mod, etc. etc. This should keep my ears happy
while I think about building four more to make an eight-voice system.

To control the eight-voice system, there are a few options:

     1. Get another MPU-101 and cascade them (not too hopeful, these things
are a bit hard to find and expensive if you do find one!)

     2. Get some other commercially available MIDI-CV controller like
        Kenton etc.

     3. Use my PC-based parallel-port 8-output home-built MIDI-CV converter
(MPU-401 to octal DAC software needs to be developed)

     4. Tap into my OB-8 and bring out the 8 CV/Gates and use the OB-8 as
the MIDI-CV controller, or the keyboard, and maybe even layered
        sounds as well

So, those are the options that I'm gonna pursue.

     - Gene
