VCOs as modulation sources

this may be off of this particular topic, but it's something i've been
wondering about for a long time. has anyone done FM with DCO's? it would
seem like that would be better than yamaha FM, but more controlled than
doing it with a VCO. i think it'd be an interesting experiment.
