Barry,
I like the idea.
In fact, what now has become my JH-3 Modular, has begun as an idea like
this.
I saw all these cheap aluminium cases (for photo stuff) and thought that
would
be nice for a synth. But what I finally built is something 6 times as large,
but
only 2 or 3 times as powerful as a Synthi (if you can measure synth power
at all). The reason is the patch system. This pin matrix helps to make the
Synthi so compact. So for a suitcase synth, a matrix or something similar
would be a must, IMO.
