Patch Cords?

In considering this question with regards to a DIY modular I'm designing, I
thought a pro studio patchbay- the small balanced type that gives you about
64 points per single space (I'm going for a rackmount design). I know the
spacing is really tight, but it will last forever, you got color coding for
the cords and jacks, and the connections are solid. Guess it depends on
whether you want to take it onstage and do some fancy repatching (that would
suck)! I plan to keep mine in the studio. I figure it would save a couple
hundred bucks. Designing the electronics to handle banana jacks (low
impedance, right?) is over my head- even though physically and economically
they are probably superior...
