... my rotten RCA cables, maybe. (;->) (We don't throw our cabbage away,
here in Germany!)
I used these on my very first experiments, and stayed away from them since
then.
Cheap RCA connectors are not made for many plug/unplug cycles. They
are just not solid enough for this purpose. There *are* better ones, of
course,
but they would be as expensive as your other options.
Also, I reccommend using the best quality of jacks (speaking of 1/4" ones).
I have some in my system that grip the plugs too strong, and that's a pain
to use. Cheap components is something you will always regret on the long
run.
