Old Eproms: any good?

I've recently found a lot of old eproms (1983), they haven't been used. Now
I wondered if I could still use these or are they just doomed to fail?
EPROMs mainly wear by getting erased and programmed repeatedly. If
these were included in a production instrument, they have probably
been programmed once and should be fine. Older versions of some
EPROMs require special programming. Make sure your programmer
supports the exact one that you have. Also TI versions of the older
EPROMs often have a slightly different pinout than the standard one
(and require a different programmer).
