DIYers:
I stumbled across some cool stuff at the Midwest Analog Products site
today ( http://prairie.lakes.com/~map/ ). If you don't know, MAP is
a venture of Thomas Henry (of Polyphony and SuperSeque fame) and Jack Orman.
I've got their analog drum design book, which I felt was a little on the
thin side. It's very good on theory, but leaves it to you to put all the
pieces together. If you're looking for a "How To Design And Build Your Own
TR-X0X", this book will get you maybe a third of the way there.
They also have two analog drum kits available - one for a snare, and another
for bass (kick). Kits are available, as well as PCBs. Lots of pots,
unfortunately, you'll have to do some hacking if you want CV control.
Schematics are available for free download, and were originally featured in
Nuts N Volts magazine.
Check it out.
