ASM-1 Filter Tuning...

Yah it's true, you can leave off just about all of 'em if you can find
resistor values that make you happy.... the only ones that are best
left as trimmers are the Volts/Octave trimmers in the VCOs and the
VCF. Most of them are "set and forget" anyway.

Trimmers you can just leave off are:

     VCF "OFFSET"
     VCA "OFFSET"
     VCO "INIT FREQ"

Trimmers that you must replace with resistors if you remove them are:

     EG "GATE THRESH."
     EG "ATK PEAK"
     EG "SUS TRIM"
     NOISE "NOISE LEVEL"

You can make the "NOISE LEVEL" trimmer a panel control if you want, so
you can adjust the noise volume at all three outputs (white, pink,
     random) from zero to max.

These are certainly not the only trimmer that can be left off by the
  expense-concious builder.

Gene did us a great service by putting in all possible triimming options
  - but you need not use them all.

The Gate Level - for instance. I have all my gates hard set to 3.15v by
always using a 20K/75K divider on the gate inputs. Imperfect resistors
may make one gate trigger level slightly different from another - but
with 1% resistors (that are A LOT cheaper than trimmers!) this is not
much of a problem. It's easy to solder in two resistors into thge spot
where the trimmer goes - so y'all might wanna give it a try....
