   Oh yeah, forgot to answer this one.  Yes, some pot shafts have toothed 
edges.  I've only seen those on plastic shafted post.  Most anyone will 
tell you to stay away from plastic shafted pots as they aren't as 
reliable and will not have the lifespan of a metal shafted pot.  I've not 
hear the term positive grip, but sounds like you're on the right track.
