Another stupid pot question...

Now that I have realized that pots + knobs are the most expensive part of
making a synth. I have narrowed my search for pots down using the
criteria: rotational life, physical size, price, and resistance.
Except I've noticed one thing. Most of the shafts on the pots are
completely cylindrical or at a minimum have a screwdriver slot on the
top.
How do I attach the knobs?
Don't tell me I have to pull out a dremel tool and slot the shafts. This
would certainly damage the wipers.
Some knobs say they have a positive grip (?? from memory) Does this mean
it has teeth that dig into the shaft so the shaft can be cylindrical?
I don't really think a knob with a set screw would work either.
