Moog responds to trademark rumors.
In recent newsgroups posts, press releases and the various web page it has
been asserted that Moog Music, Inc. is not be the holder of the Moog
trademarks and rights. In addition it has been mentioned that our rights
our secondary to those whom have had associations with the original
Buffalo, N.Y. company.
These statements are completely untrue and inaccurate.
To resolve any speculation, Moog Music, Inc. is not affiliated with any
other company, and no other company has licensed the Moog name from the
corporation. Moog has successfully opposed the infringement and trademark
applications of those individuals that have sought to gain by our efforts,
such as Mike Bucki/Moog Custom Engineering, and will continue to do so in
the future.
Robert Moog is not affliated with the corporation. Mr. Moog sold his
company and rights to Norlin Music in the mid 1970's. He has made no claim
until recently of any rights. Moog Music, Inc. will continue to refer
clients for Theremins and Memorymoog upgrades to his company, Big Briar, as
per verbal agreements with their representative.
What this means, is that while individuals may claim to be able to use the
trademark, by virtue of past association or other reasoning, the simple
facts remain clear. Moog Music, Inc., of Cincinnati, OH is the only company
or entity that owns and has rights to the Moog trademarks, logos and
products.
I invite any comments or questions you may have on these issues.
