   Anyone know the workable parameters for supply voltages on the MC1496 ring
   mod IC?

The data sheet uses +12v / -8v for most specs.  Maximum would be a
total of 30v.  I've run them on 9v in an actual product, and I'm
guessing they'll run at 4v or less if you tweak the values right.

   I would like to put one in a Moog modular (+12 & -6) and while I could add
   a DC-DC converter no prob, the current would go up.

+12 / -6 should be completely fine.

   Will this thing operate at + and - 6 vdc?

+6/-6?  Sure.
